Born and raised in Brooklyn, Ian Young turned his love of baseball into a mission bigger than the game. He founded the Brooklyn Grays to give local youth real access to high-level play, mentorship, and life-changing experiences rooted in their own neighborhoods. Built with true Brooklyn grit and purposeful hustle, the Grays use the game as a catalyst for opportunity, confidence, and a brighter future for every player who wears the jersey.
Curaçao and beyond
Through his love of baseball, Ian also turned his focus to his family’s home island of Curaçao, where he worked with student-athletes ages 9 to 17 through youth baseball clinics. There, alongside Major League players, he helped teach more than the game—instilling the values of teamwork, leadership, integrity, and character, and showing young people how those qualities can help shape their future.
Building on Ian’s vision, the Brooklyn Grays have been highly successful in attracting talented players from Central and South America. More importantly, the organization’s impact extends far beyond recruitment. The Brooklyn Grays are committed to reaching across borders to uplift youth, using baseball as a vehicle to create opportunity, strengthen character, and transform lives.
